We have such a busy busy printing schedule this week. Herbies printing, Charlies clunking, the guiltones chopping and im madly mixing ink colours.
Although I must admit, I do love love love mixing ink. It is s such a fine line when mixing colours to get them perfect. The tinest little addition of a colour into the mix can make or break a colour. You can totally ruin an ink colour by overcompensating, and then you have to start all over again!
Its also quite tricky as the mixed ink colour when printed looks entirely different to the actual raw ink. So its alot of trial and error and having the knowlegde to know how colours will work when mixed together, and how the press and paper will ultimately effect the ink.
This candy pink we have been mixing is made up of a base red and opaque white. It was looking all a little to bright, so the tinest tab of oragnge and the littlest tiney weeny addition of yellow, mellowed the colour out just perfectly. It resulted in a little more of a coral pink then vibrant pink... I promise i'll show you the outcome soon!
Can't wait to see, am always on the hunt for the perfect coral colour, harder to find than you would think! :)
ReplyDeleteJust found you from Real Living, most impressed! Definitely on the wishlist...
ReplyDeleteAh, the joys of mixing and matching colours. I must admit that it isn't the favourite part of my work but it's good that you enjoy it. I must admit that the results are worthwhile though. I really do love pinks.
