christmas love

One minute I blinked and the next I realised it was Christmas! My goodness, how on earth did it manage to sneak up on us so quickly??

Our Christmas season will be spent with family and the loveliest of loved ones. Hopefully you too can enjoy a beautifully decorated table (bless my mother, she truly is the table decorating queen) surrounded by those most special to your heart, with far too much food, the cheeriest of laughter and the sweetest of joys, which can only really be found at Christmas.

I thank you you for all your support, encouragement and lovely blog messages you have left in this wonderful year that was 2010. We look forward to 2011 with lots of big plans, new ideas and more letterpress then we can possibly imagine. Until then, we will rest for a few days, catch our breaths, enjoy some summer air and count our blessings as to how truly blessed we all are.

Wishing you much love, joy and sweet merriment.

featured wedding :: megan & kristian

Totally we have a very wonderful treat for you. The stunning Megan married her beau Kristian in a dashing 1950's era inspired South Australian wedding in November this year and we are tickled pink to get to share some of the images of their day.

(You might remember their stunning invitations that Megan designed and we printed in coral and a blind impression earlier this year.)

Megan's gorgeous gown was custom designed by POP bridal couture using bone silk and detailed beading. She wore her Grandmothers wedding necklace, worn by her grandmother in 1955, and complimented with a beaded and fine feather fascinator designed by Hats by Jayne.

The couple were married at Rostrevor Chapel, with reception followed at John Difede Reception Centre. The stunning post ceremony shots were taken at the BoHo Hotel, followed by a stroll along the River Torrens in Adelaide.

We adore that Megan's Mum, Auntie and Grandmother all chipped in to make the families traditional lemon and almond tart which has been passed down from one generation to the next, and as wedding favours the grooms father's gifted his 2005 Merlot produced in the Adelaide Hills.

Their photographer was Angie Doughty-Garside from Mink Studio and you can see more images from this amazing wedding here.

We wish Megan and Kristian a beautifully happy, lovely and joy filled marriage together. It was such a pleasure to work with you both and we thank you for sharing your wedding day with us!

We thank Mink Studios for the use of their images on our blog and respectfully ask that if you wish to reblog this gorgeous wedding that you seek permission.

a birthday surprise

We love getting to work on fabulous ideas around here - especially when they are a secret squirrel surprise!! Kristina from Mala designed these coasters as a surprise 40th Birthday gift for her husband Tym. He is an avid collector of vintage bourbons and whiskeys which he houses in his retro Scorpion Bar. As Tym is a letterpress lover, Kristina combined all these loves into custom designed coasters which we printed and die cut on Herbie on Beer Coaster Board.

Happy Birthday Tym, We hope that you loved the surprise!

susie & matt :: save the date cards

The gorgeous Susie & Matt are getting married in Spring 2011, and we had the pleasure of meeting with them and planning some gorgeous save the dates to suit their amazing wedding they have planned. The brief was for a design which was striking, beautiful and full of old world glamour.

Letterpress printed on our 100% cotton stocks, we worked with classic black on white, with delicate scalloped corners and printed envelopes.

It was such a joy to work with this gorgeous couple - we now cannot wait to start designing the invitations!

We wish Laura & Tim a beautiful wedding day of love and laughter - thank you for letting us share the journey with you. It really has been such a joy!

robert & jennifer :: wedding stationery

Recently we had the pleasure of designing stationery for my cousin and his bride to be. The brief was for something classic, something elegant and something to reflect the historic sprawling country estate of Terrara House.

Featuring a divine vintage tree etching we combined classic and elegant typography with a beautifully textural quilted blind impressed pattern. The invitations were housed inside printed envelopes with a pinstripe lining and accompanied by a matching reply card and additional information card. The stationery suite also included order of service cards, menus and placesettings.

A gorgeous stationery suite for a gorgeous couple. Congratulations Rob & Jen, we cant wait to help celebrate with you this weekend!

dear hands

Conversations with a very dear and wise friend had me thinking about these - my hands. These hands with which together we design, we make, we are inspired. These hands which allow all of this to be - this beautiful, crazy, hectic life. All the stress, the worry, the anxiety, the sore muscles, the frustration, the pain. Together we work to design, to produce, to deliver - just me and my little hands.

Sometimes its easy to loose sight of just how precious this all really is... This craftsmanship and all the history which goes with it. Me and these hands, holding the past and shaping it into the future. Taking the art of masters, and working it, moulding it, plying it into a feasible contemporary thing. How precious it all really is, to be holding all of this in the palm of my hands.

finding beauty

The smallest things around here give me such joy - such as the way Herbie stacks our envelopes. His printing arms whoosh in their circular motion to drop the printed finish piece into a not so perfect pile. It seems so fitting that the pile isn't perfect - its a bit like letterpress itself, each one an individual, a hand crafted piece of love, each with their own stamp of personality. I love these wonky piles of paper - they bring me so much joy.

laura & tim :: wedding stationery

Another gorgeous invitation suite we have been waiting to show you is that which we created for Laura & Tim. You may remember their save the date cards we created for them earlier this year? For their wedding stationery we further expanding upon their illustrative graphics and created a very striking and contemporary, yet still vintage inspired design. Featuring lined envelopes, one colour invitations and reply cards with envelopes we love the fabulous combination of black ink printed on our 100% cotton white stocks. Just divine.

kathleen & marko :: wedding stationery

We have had this delightful invitation we have been wanting to show you for some time! Kathleen and Marko are getting married next March at a Winery with a gorgeous and rustic chapel on site. Their brief was for something classic yet chic, to be formal and yet still contain vintage elements. With a black and white theme we chose for a blind impressed vintage flourish background, combined with classic, yet striking black typography printed on our 100% cotton stocks.

By keeping their stationery suite quite simple with non printed envelopes and the inclusion of reply details on the invitation (saving the need for additional printing), this invitation shows that you are able to keep to budget, yet still achieve a beautiful letterpress result.

Thanks Kathleen & Marko - it was a joy to work with you both!

calm amongst the storm

The last week in the studio certainly has not been our best! A massive technological failure saw all our systems and communication down for an entire week. Finally we are back up and running today - phew. If you are waiting on an email or artwork from us we will be sorting through these as quickly as we possibly can.

Amongst the storm of the past horrible week we did have two beautiful moments which kept us smiling. The first we took Miss Ruby Tuesday off to the dog park to escape the stress and manic nature of the studio. Our dog park is quite a blessing - it is about 5 acres of wooded parkland's and is really quite divine. We were quite excited as its not often we get a chance to visit. Mind you, our excitement didn't compare to Ruby's who did 19 wee's in 40 minutes, now that's excitement.

The second lovely thing to happen was a surprise visit from my parents. When they are in Sydney and we are in Brisbane, it certainly was a lovely and very happy surprise indeed!

GoMA Twighlight Markets

Amongst all the craziness that has been this week (sickness, coupled with major technological dramas, coupled with far too much stress) one thing which has kept us going is our excitement about is selling our letterpress wares at the Gallery Store Twilight Market at the Gallery of Modern Art here in Brisbane.

We attended last year and really loved this gorgeous twilight event with a cash bar, amazing gallery surrounds and lots of handmade wonder to admire. The markets will be held just outside the gallery store and runs from 4pm to 8pm this Friday night (12 November).

Hope to see you there!

missing in action

A pretty major technological malfunction has happened here in the studio. If you are a client awaiting artwork, a new client after information or one of our dear friends dropping us a line, we hope to be back up and running again next week.

If you have a scheduled appointment to discuss wedding stationery with us this weekend, we ask that you contact us urgently, as we are unable to access your details at this time.

photos from a very lovely weekend

What a fabulous weekend we had at the Brisbane Finders Keepers Market. There is so many gushing wonderful things we want to say about our weekend, but to save the big ramble let me keep it simple and say that it was simply delightful, sweet, lovely and humbling all at the same time. A very big thankyou for all of those who stopped by and said hello, we are so touched by your love.

thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. xox
