olivia & scott :: save the dates

We recently had the pleasure of designing save the date stationery for Olivia and Scott - a gorgeous couple from regional NSW - and Olivia just so happened to be a school friend from back in my day as school girl in Sydney!

Their wedding is to be held at Petersons Champange House in the Hunter Valley next Autumn. With a relaxed garden theme, not too formal, yet still very elegant, this will be an intimate celebrate for their lucky guests amongst the grapevines.

With a romantic vintage style planned - with lots of lanterns, candles and our favourite flowers of David Austin Roses, Freesias, Lisianthus and grape vines, this is surely a couple styling with beautiful taste!

For their save the date stationery we wanted to inject a little of this rustic country styling, combined with an elegant and tasteful vibe to get Olivia and Scott's guests excited about their wedding to come!

Printed on our ivory cotton stock in a dusty latte ink their design featured a custom vine illustration is combined with custom hand lettering and all tied together with a vintage serif typeface. The suite included a save the date card, information card and lined envelopes.

To allow Olivia and Scott to also be able to use some of this styling for their future life we also designed a custom stamp for them to return address the rear of their envelopes. Keeping this with just their first names so that it is perfect to use now, and also later one once they become Mr & Mrs as well.

Thanks so much Olivia and Scott - it has been a joy to work with you both, and we look forward to designing and printing your wedding stationery later this year!

penny & gerald :: wedding stationery

Today we have a super lovely wedding stationery suite to share with you, with a distinct world flair to it. Penny is from here in Australia, Gerald is from Brussels and in the past three years they have worked in Africa, Pakistan and currently Israel. With their wedding planned for Noosa in November this year, they will be having guests traveling from far and wide to come celebrate their special day.

With a love for letterpress printing and the unique one off printing results it produces, Penny & Gerald's brief to us was something which wasn't too traditional, injected a flair of travel, a sense of rusticness and a tiny hint of vintage styling.

We worked with many different concepts based upon this idea, however simplicity was the key with this invitation and our final design was a postage mark inspired monogram coupled with loose typewriter styled typography. Inspired by old passports and stamps from around the world we also introduced small elements such as dotted line work and typographic characters to further enhance this style.

Their letterpress suite included a main intro card printed in a vintage brown ink on ivory cotton paper, it was also complimented with two further cards - the first with wedding invitation details and the second with further information as to the weekend events. With both of these cards their postage style monogram was blind impressed for a tactile and old world feel.

All three letterpress cards were then bound with red bakers twine and completed with a luggage style tag, and housed inside our cotton envelopes with a vintage world map lining.

Such a sweet and unique stationery suite - we wish Penny and Gerald an amazing and perfect day in November!

love :: elkhorn

Hello friends, How have you been? Around here we are pretty glad that it is Friday. It has been a bit of a strange week, lots of work getting done, but not much energy to bounce through it in our usual sort of way.

I do find that it is always a slow process winding down after Finders Keepers - all that build up getting products ready, followed by an amazing two days, results in about a week of recovery I have decided. However the one thing I do love about post Finders Keepers - playing with all the new goodies which were purchased!

One of my favourite purchases was one that I have eyed off for quite some time! A few Sydney Finders Keepers ago a lovely friend and colleague of mine purchased an amazing ruffle scarf - every time she wore it I had serious scarf envy. And I mean serious, I am sure I was almost salivating over it.

So, what do you know, the first thing that I noticed upon setting up for Finders Keepers is that the magical ruffle scarfs were back! Made by Monique at Elkhorn I was pretty blown away by their display - it was amazing! Monique very graciously allowed me to photograph her stall to share with you above. Oh and yes, I bought the scarf (sorry Miss T, hope you don't mind if we are a bit matchy matchy).

Elkhorn is based out of the Central Coast of NSW where they design and screen print a collection of lifestyle products including home wares, cushions, table runners and tea towels as well as hand made and screen printed clothing and accessories. All inspired by their natural bush and coastal surrounds - Talk about clever!

Make sure you check out the Elkhorn blog and shop and the good news? If your in Brisbane they will be traveling up north for the Brisbane July 2nd/3rd Finders Keepers - Yay!!

love :: wait

I have long been a lover of Paper Boat Press and was super excited at Sydney Finders Keepers to have a stall next to my dear friend Kylie and her magical girls.

One of my favourite purchases from the weekend was a "wait" sculpture which is a collaboration between Kylie and the adorable Sarah who makes crocheted wonders to sit upon Kylie ceramic beauties. Such a beautiful, perfect and sweet union between two lovely friends and two beautifully tactile crafts.

They are all unique in their own little free form way. It was quite a challenge to choose a favourite to bring home, but now I am thinking that one is not enough and my one "wait" might be the start of a little collection.

This beautiful collaboration will also be showing at the Brisbane Finders Keepers in July.

Thank you Kylie & Sarah for letting me photograph your work, being such gorgeous market stall neighbours and being such delightful friends.

oh my

Oh my, what an amazing crazy time we had at Sydney's Finders Keepers. Huge crowds, fabulous designers, great music and visits from beautiful friends, family, blog readers, wedding clients, letterpress fans and sweet lovely blog readers. We are still climbing back down to earth after a crazy hectic weekend!

I did manage to sneak away from our stall early on Saturday morning to take some photos of my favourite designers - I will add these up onto the blog this week.

Oh my, what a weekend!!

sydney finders keepers this weekend!

We are jumping up and down with excitement - it is the fabulous Sydney Finders Keepers market this weekend and we have our bags packed and our letterpress goodies on their way! We have kept plenty of space in our bags to squeeze in lots of wonderful designer finds.

Someone did once tell me that its is a roundabout circle when it comes to designers at the finders keepers markets. You make to sell, you then sell and then you find and buy from another designer and so the circle goes. We quite clearly fall into this roundabout circle phenomenon.

Friday 20th May from 6pm – 10pm

Saturday 21st May from 10am – 5pm
The markets will be held at the inside foyer at CarriageWorks
245 Wilson Street, Eveleigh NSW 2015.

You can find out all more details about the markets here and to view the amazing line up of designers visit here.

sarah & ben :: save the dates

Today we have some lovely save the date cards we recently designed and printed for Sarah and Ben. Not wanting to give too much away about their wedding to come (and hence spoil the surprise of the invitations) the brief was for something elegant and classic, with strong typography and good use of white space for an opulent feel.

Beautiful and simple and with an amazing letterpress impression, these were printed on our 100% cotton ivory stock and combined with printed return address envelopes and a classic pinstripe lining - just lovely!

keeping busy

Hello friends, I have missed you. Last week our lovely friends at Blogger had some issues and we were unable to upload any new posts.

To fill you in on whats been happening - Life around here has been pretty frantic lately. Dear old Herbie & Charlie have been getting mammoth work outs, we have been pulling all nighters in the print studio. My beautiful assistants Megan and Louise have been amazing pillars of strength whilst we work through one of our craziest wedding seasons yet. Where would I be without such wonderful women by my side, they allow all of this crazy amazing life to be.

And then their has been sweet Ruby to keep me company and remind me when it is dinner time - if only we could also teach her to sort through paper, mix some ink and chat to some clients maybe?

And finally amongst all the hectic franticness around here, there is the adorable Mr H - provider of love and support and lots of kisses to my weary forehead. Such a beautiful man.

It really is such a blessing to have such amazing love and support that surrounds my wee small studio - it helps make the busy frantic days run just that much smoother - with lots of laughs, the eating of sweet treats and sharing of beautiful friendship, it really is all about love around here.

love :: paper runway

Are you a paper lover? I unashamedly admit that I am - the smell, the feel and all that potential found inside of a single piece of paper - I love it in so many ways. My love affair with paper has been a life long addiction and I would say it is pretty extreme - if I could build a house made of paper and live in it - I think that I probably would. Paper walls, paper lights, paper tables and paper bowls. It could work??

If you also belong to this paper obsessive club I do suggest that you go check Paper Runway - a brand new online magazine dedicated to all things paperish. Keep an eye out for Charlie, he got a half a centerfold. Sexy beast.
