a note from ruby

Hello! its Ruby Tuesday here. Its been awhile since I have been allowed to post any blog posts - have you missed me?

Awhile back I painstakingly stood by that funny tree my people put up in the house and decorated with sparkly things which dropped glitter everywhere and made me look like a transvestite retriever.

Anyway, I remember it was a time of lots of good and delicious food, but to receive some I had to have these portraits done especially for you blog readers. I fluffed up my fur, put on my best smile and posed and posed and posed while my mum took 600 photos of me. I tell you what, it was a big effort to maintain concentration with all that good food smells wafting around me.

And after all of that, I cant believe she never posted these photos of me up. Gezz, whats a dog to do to get any attention around here?

Anyway, my sunny corner is calling me, and I am already starting to dream of fluffy clouds and meadows of white fluffy lambs to chase.

Much Love,
Ruby Tuesday

Magnolia Bakery

Every now and then I get a little flash back to a smell or a sight or a memory of some little moment in our big trip. This morning it was the smell of the Magnolia Bakery.

I had heard wonderful things about this little cupcake emporium from the Design*Sponge city guides which I poured over before we headed away on our adventure. The name of this bakery kept on popping up everywhere, so I knew it must have been something special.

Walking towards my all time favourite of all favourite shop Anthropologie in the Rockefeller Centre, we were walking down the Avenue of the Americas where out of the corner of my eye I spotted this cute little corner store with a queue of people lined up two fold inside the store, and down the street. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a beautiful seafoam green branding and that beautiful smell of fresh baked wonders.

With much excitement, and a somewhat dismayed husband we braved the queue and pondered over and over again as to which best delicacy was fitting for such an exciting moment!

A box of goodies later, a beautiful carry bag and a cupcake cookbook for my cupcake baking mum, we sat by a fountain (i'm sure it was some special one, but really the moment was stolen by the cupcakes) and devoured our goodies.

Such an unexpected and wonderful surprise that chilly New York morning, and one I hope not to forget in a hurry!

penelope & mark wedding stationery

Today we have another gorgeous wedding set to show you. Brisbane based Penelope & Mark are having an Autumn wedding at the stunning Sails Restaurant in Noosa Heads. Their request for their invitations was for a beautiful, simple, and classic design.

We designed a vintage floral design which we printed in ivory ink and coupled it with classic black ink for the typography for a sophisticated result. The large areas of white negative space create an air of opulence as well as allow for a stunning impression for the printed areas into our 100% cotton paper.

Coupled with printed envelopes with Penelope & Marks return address details, the pure simplicity of this invitation really enhances the beautiful letterpress technique.

We wish them a wonderful wedding!

loren and chris wedding stationery

We've been all a little quiet lately on the blog front whilst we finish off some really fabulous invitations. One of these were Loren & Chris's wedding set who proved that you don't have to sacrifice gorgeous letterpress wedding invitations even if you are working to a tight budget.

By utilising our long thin rectangular invitation size they immediately saved a few extra penny's as this invitation size has our smallest surface area making it the cheapest available invitation size we offer. Coupled with a striking design in a one colour print, and our standard non printed envelopes, it was possible for this couple to achieve 70 gorgeous letterpress wedding invitation sets for just over $500.

This striking artdeco inspired design, coupled with beautifully crafted typography resulted in a beautiful impression into our bright white 100% cotton stocks. The strong areas of white space around the typography resulted in beautiful valleys of impression through the typography.

Printing in just black, this invitation proves that a strong, dynamic letterpress design can be achieved with just one ink colour and most importantly helps keeps the budget friendly!

Danielle & Gavan's Wedding Stationery

I have been itching to show you this gorgeous letterpress wedding invitation set we completed earlier this year for Danielle & Gavan's April wedding. When I met with this couple last year I was immediately excited by their blue upon blue theme. It sounded so classic and elegant, and I could wait to get started on concepting design ideas!

With inspiration of Wedgwood blue, traditional pinstripes, vintage motifs, asymmetrical floral designs (to create impact) and beautifully crafted vintage typography, it was such a joy to develop, design and illustrate our ideas.

With the final design chosen from 10 different concepts (we had so many ideas!) we printed them on our 100% cotton rag ivory stock. The blue upon blue is just so lovely, and complimented our ivory stock perfectly. Packaged up for postage they were housed inside cotton envelopes letterpress printed with a return address. You can see more images of this letterpress invitation on our website here.

back in the studio

Lovely friends we are back in the studio and missing the gorgeously hot tropical days and magical sunsets we found in Fiji. We are busy catching up on lots of emails and plenty of work, but will be back shortly to fill you in on more of our adventures!
