in the studio

Ruby Tuesday isn't very impressed. After 3 weeks of straight printing every day in the studio, and no days off, she has had enough. Poor little muffin, its a tough job being our studio manager.

kate & joel save the date cards

Here at Bespoke we love couples who embrace beautiful typography and the power of white space. It tickles us pink as the end letterpressed result is always simply spectacular. The use of white space allows us to achieve the best possible impression into the paper for the areas of ink, resulting in the amazing tactile feel that letterpress is famous for.

And right now we are totally adoring these latest save the date cards to come out of the studio. With classic and simple typography, and black ink printed on our ivory cotton stock.

We coupled this with the sweetest little love heart inspired by the Aboriginal meaning of Kate & Joels very special and personal wedding location, and not to forget, most of all, because they are in love and it is just simply beautiful.

lemon & passionfruit cupcakes

Not being one to love easter eggs that much, this Easter I have chosen to bake sweet treaties for gifts instead. The cupcake of choice this year is lemon & passionfruit cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and home grown passionfruit. Delicious - Enjoy!

Cupcakes
Ingredients
90g softened butter
90g softened cream cheese
grated lemon rind + juice of 2 lemons
2/3 cup castor sugar
2 eggs
2/3 cup self-raising flour

Method
1. Pre-heat the oven to 160'C
2. Line a 12 cupcake pan, with cupcake papers.
3. Beat the butter, cheese, lemon rind, sugar and eggs until smooth and creamy.
4. Add sifted flour gradually to the cheese mixture and beat on a low speed, until just combined.
5. Divide the mixture evenly between the cake cases.
6. Bake for 25 minutes until firm to touch.

Frosting
Ingredients
125g softened cream cheese
1/8 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 & 1/2 cups icing sugar mixture
¼ cup passionfruit pulp

Method:
1. Combine cream cheese, butter and vanilla in a small bowl.
2. Using an electric mixture beat until smooth. Add the icing sugar mixture and beat until smooth.
3. Reduce speed and add passionfruit.
4. Spread over cooled cupcakes.
For best results with frosting, place your mixing bowl and beaters in fridge for an hour before use. This will keep your frosting thick and stop it from melting. Also avoid using hot melted butter, and keep your cream cheese and passionfruit in fridge prior to use.

featured wedding: jamie & anthony

Todays featured wedding is of the very sweet Jamie & Anthony whose wedding invitation set we have featured here on our website.

Date: Saturday 19th September 2009.

Location: Ceremony – Mother of Good Counsel church in Innisfail – have always lived in Innisfail and it is such big beautiful church that I have forever dreamed of saying I DO at that location just like my parents, aunties and sister.

Reception: Shangri-La – Cairns – special place to us both as it is on the water in Cairns (we both love the water) – and it was the first place that we stayed at overnight together as a couple 4 years ago.

Photographer: Peter Rossi – Highlights Cairns
Florist: Ivy Floral Design – Cairns
Wedding Gown: DARB Bridal – Brisbane Arcade
Other suppliers I recommend: - Bespoke Letterpress!!! - Pam B Designs – helped design and make my E Ring/Wedder and Anthony’s wedder – and VERY competitive prices. Can highly highly highly recommend Peter Rossi as a photographer.

Special moments: Waking up the morning of MY OWN wedding day – eeek!! – saying I DO – Father daughter dance to the Temptations; My Girl – Spending a wonderful day with my wonderful “husband” and our wonderful bridal party – the speeches and dancing.

Little things you did to make your wedding day truly unique: We used the fountain that we got engaged at in Paris throughout all of our stationery, wrote ‘about the bridal party’ on the back of each guests menu, our table names were named after favourite cities that we had visited around the world and there was a picture of Anthony and I at each city. We used an antique bird cage as our wishing well as our first pet together was a bird.

We had guests write us personal notes throughout the night on large white card with nikko and the photographers took piccies of guests with the card , we also played the shoe game; where we had 2 of our good friends get up and ask us questions, Anthony and I had to stand back to back infront of everyone and take off our shoes, I had to give him one of mine and he had to give me one of his, the speakers would then ask us questions and we would have to answer with the relevant shoe. We couldn’t see what the other was answering because we had our backs to each other, and they went on to ask other questions like...who has the scariest family...who made the first move...who has better assets...who will make the first move tonight....etc etc – they got quite funny and naughty and the WHOLE ROOM was in fits of laughter – it was such a fun game and really set the mood for the night.

Styling tips and ideas: Read lots of magazines and search the internet for reputable suppliers and a good deal, sign up to an online bridal forum – such as bridesdiary – such a great bunch of girls with friendly helpful ideas. Settle on a theme/colour and employee Bespoke to look after your invites! Think about your hair style around 6 months in advance, you don’t want to get to 4 weeks before the wedding and realise that you’ve been getting your hair cut too short for the style that you are after.

Thankyou Jamie & Anthony! It has been such a joy to work with you both throughout the planning for your gorgeous day. We wish you all the very best for a beautiful lifetime of love, joy and happiness.
