laura & murray wedding stationery

Todays wedding set is for the lovely Laura & Murray who are getting married in May this year. Their design features a very subtle vintage lace pattern which we coupled with beautiful vintage typography and printed on our 100% cotton rag stocks in an ivory colour.

We love the sweet combination of vintage blue and ivory, its so very simple and classic and perfectly suited to this super sweet couple. It was an absolute joy to design and print for these guys. We wish them a wonderful time sending these gorgeous invitations out to their guests!

Telegram World Map

For a while now we have been on the hunt for a large picture to hang above our bed. I was thinking of a really dramatic oil painted landscape of sweeping clouds. But of course I never found it, and even if I did, having a king size bed it would need a monstrous sized artwork which would be way beyond our means.

And then one happy day I stumbled across the Telegram World Map. We loved its light colour scheme, its beautifully crafted cartography, and the fact that it was exactly the perfect width to fit above a king size bed. It was a beautiful reflection upon our love of travels and finding far flung places across the globe to explore. It was a very happy day indeed.

So now it hangs in our bed room, and I must admit, there have been a few episodes of us standing on the bed, looking at the map and saying "Where shall we go next honey?"

What a bad bad thing we may have started.

perfection

oh my, how perfect is this bathroom vanity. Found via Pottery Barn it makes me want to renovate our bathroom all over again (and I do know my husband will read this and shake his head in disbelief). But oh my, its just beautiful.

happy weekend

Have a beautiful weekend my friends. With our crazy work schedule at the moment we will be in the studio printing away getting some work done. Ideally, I would much prefer to be back in amazing NY taking this photo again, or maybe back at Moana, or maybe even back in Fiji. Not that i've told you much about there yet... soon i promise, soon!

See you next week!

remembering moana

On our way back home from NY earlier this year we broke our travels up with a few days in LA and a few days in Hawaii. Whilst hunting for a hotel to stay at in Honolulu I stumbled across this gorgeous hotel called the Moana Surfrider. This gorgeous hotel opened it doors in 1901, and I must admit - it certainly didn't disappoint!! I could have spent all day standing in the foyer admiring that beautiful staircase and classic tropical furniture styling. With white wicker rocking chairs lining the veranda, and a beautiful sense of tropical sophistication, Oh my, I could have moved in and stayed forever.

katie & david wedding stationery

Todays wedding set is one we recently completed for Brisbane based Katie & David who are to be married in May this year. They are planning a very elegant, yet simple and classic wedding and have chosen Brisbane's Baguette Bistro for its with stunning decor and amazing dining experience.

For their invitations we wanted to keep the designs clean and classic with a large amount of white space to evoke the air of sophistication which is surrounding their wedding. With Scottish ancestry, we used a stylised Scottish thistle as both a blind impression on the invitation, and as a motif for their gifts card.

We printed in a beautifully vintage brown on our 100% cotton ivory stocks, we really love the simplicity, yet beautiful textural finish for this letterpressed wedding invitation set.

nicola & john placesettings

Yesterday we finished off these sweet little letterpress placesettings for Nicola & John, whose invitation wedding set we featured here several months ago.

With a letterpress outer casing, and digitally printed guest name inserts, we supply each of the tags with a beautiful ivory satin ribbon so that the tags can be attached to napkins, or other creative little methods our brides create. We wish Nicola & John a beautifully happy wedding this Saturday!

lisa & richard wedding invitation booklets

Earlier this week we showed you a few behind the scenes shots of the production of some white & ivory ink printing here in the studio. Well they were for the gorgeously sweet Brisbane based Lisa & Richard who are to be wedded in May at the incredible Le Manoir Aux Quat Saisons in Oxford, The United Kingdom (oh, how to be a fly on the wall at this wedding!).

With wildflower English gardens, lawns, flower beds and orchids, it is one of the UK's original and most intimate hotels. Whilst meeting with Lisa & Richard I died with envy at this beautiful, yet very personal and intimate wedding they were planning.

Due to the amount of travel their guests would be undertaking we designed an invitation booklet which included maps, accommodation suggestions, driving directions as well as a note on gifts and additional events they have planned. Lisa & Richard really wanted a very simple, yet classic design which was inspired by the Manoirs gardens.

We designed a very sweet wildflower illustration which was printed with ivory ink on ivory stocks. Coupled with a very classic black band and traditional typography, these 6 page booklets where then machine stitched and coupled with cotton ivory envelopes.

the production side of things

Have we ever shown you this side of the studio? This is our big 10 seater table where we sit and do all the post production work on our letterpress goodies. Trimming, cutting, stuffing of envelopes and packaging of our beauties ready for their new home.

Around the table you can usually find myself and our beautiful assistant Louise, and ever so occasionally Hayden escapes the presses and comes and helps out too. Its a happy place this table - we listen to music, eat yummy food, have a few giggles and most off all, we admire the final product and remember the many months of design and printing that have lead to this moment. It is indeed a happy table.

in the studio

How was your weekend friends? We managed to fit in some antique shopping and an impromptu lunch with my dear friend Kylie. I was lucky enough to squeeze in a visit to her amazing studio, and you too can get a little sneak peak here.

Today we are mixing inks and have developed a new brown we are calling our vintage brown - it is a combination of black, orange, white, yellow and warm red inks, thrown in with a little of our latte ink and our chocolate ink. Needless to say, mixing so many colours does make an awful mess on our mixing table - but thankfully beauty can emerge in the most strangest of places!
